If a secondary bacterial infection should develop, one treatment of choice is amoxicillin-clavulanate ( Augmentin )
Levaquin can alter the normal bacteria in the colon and cause pseudomembranous colitis
Cefdinir is a cephalosporin-type antibiotic effective at treating mild-to-moderate infections caused by susceptible gram-positive Penicillin allergy: Cefpodoxime, 10 mg per kg orally per day for 10 to 14 days
